How to tell us if something published on businessof.co infringes your rights or is otherwise unlawful, and what we do about it.

Content complaints policy

1. Overview

Business Of (businessof.co), operated by TBO Ltd, is committed to upholding high editorial standards and respecting intellectual property, privacy, and reputation.

If you believe that any article, commentary, image, or other material published on businessof.co infringes your copyright, is defamatory, breaches privacy, or is otherwise unlawful, please follow the relevant complaint procedure below.

We acknowledge every complaint within 2 working days and tell you our decision once we have investigated. Removing or restricting material while we investigate is not an admission that the complaint is justified.

2. Copyright complaints

To submit a formal notice of copyright infringement, please write to our Copyright Complaints Manager at [email protected] providing the following information:

  1. Identification: Your full legal name, organisation (if applicable), and contact details (email and physical postal address).
  2. Work claimed: Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
  3. Location: The specific URL on businessof.co where the alleged infringing material is located.
  4. Statement of authority: Confirmation that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
  5. Good-faith statement: A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. Accuracy statement: A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act on behalf of the owner.

3. Defamation complaints (Section 5 Defamation Act 2013)

If you believe Content published on businessof.co contains a statement that is defamatory to you or your organisation, please submit a formal Notice of Complaint to [email protected].

Pursuant to the Defamation (Operators of Websites) Regulations 2013, your Notice of Complaint must include:

  1. Complainant details: Your full legal name and physical postal address.
  2. Location: The exact URL link on businessof.co containing the statement complained of.
  3. Allegation: The specific words or statements you believe are defamatory, an explanation of why they are defamatory, and the factual inaccuracies alleged.
  4. Consent: Confirmation as to whether you consent to us providing your name and address to the author of the Content.

Upon receipt of a valid Notice of Complaint, we will process it in accordance with the statutory timeline, which may include contacting the author, requesting their formal response, or temporarily or permanently removing the Content.

4. General legal and privacy complaints

For complaints involving trade mark infringement, passing off, breach of confidence, misuse of private information, or data protection concerns, please email [email protected] with:

  • Your contact details;
  • The URL of the material; and
  • A clear description of the legal basis for your complaint.

We review all legal complaints promptly and reserve the right to temporarily disable or permanently remove material while an investigation takes place.

5. Misuse of this process

Sending a complaint you know to be false, or using this process to suppress lawful criticism, may make you liable for our costs and the author's losses. We may decline to act on repeat complaints about material we have already investigated.
