Mallory Simmonds
Chief Executive Officer, Jungle Creations
A data and performance leader turned social agency CEO, on proving that social moves the business rather than the follower count.
About
Mallory Simmonds is Chief Executive Officer of Jungle Creations, a full service social agency and publisher she describes as publisher powered. She took the role in April, bringing a data and performance background into a business built on social brands and audiences.
Originally from New York, Simmonds began her career after deciding financial services was not for her, landing in a marketing consultancy doing customer segmentation and data analytics. That took her into marketing proper. She joined the Kepler Group as its 21st employee, a paid performance agency she says has since grown to almost 900 people globally, and launched its marketing analytics practice in New York. In 2018 she moved to London to open Kepler's first international office, arriving with no clients and a few contacts, reaching profitability in roughly 18 to 19 months and growing the business to around 100 people overseeing EMEA clients by 2025.
Simmonds became CEO of Jungle Creations in April, crossing from data and paid performance into a more creative environment. She frames the agency's advantage around what she says is 13 years of performance data across eight social brands and 165 million followers, used to test content on the agency's own audiences before a client spends. Away from work she is an endurance athlete who, by her account, has represented GB twice in triathlon and qualified four times, and who credits early morning training with making her a calmer, clearer leader.

Social as business impact
Simmonds anchors the agency around outcomes rather than reach. She argues social must earn its keep organically as well as through paid, and that brands should care about what it does for the bottom line. For her, this belief is the reason a social agency needs a performance discipline at its core.

Discipline and endurance
A lifelong endurance athlete, Simmonds treats training as both outlet and method. She is up at 4:30 to train before the office, and credits that routine with letting her stay settled and loose through a day that rarely goes to plan. Discipline, in her telling, is what buys the flexibility the job demands.

Making Cannes count
Simmonds is openly unsentimental about the industry's biggest week. She refuses to treat Cannes as a jolly, preferring to use it for meetings and conversations she could not have in London. Her rule for the team is to come in late, leave early and stack the middle, and never to do there what could be done at home.
