About

Lana Busignani is the chief executive of MarketCast, an insights and media measurement business that works across ads, brands and content. She is known for taking capable but sprawling organisations and making them legible, pairing products that fit, retiring what does not, and leading largely new management teams toward commercial growth.

Busignani has spent her career across analytics, outcomes, retail, media and consumer insight, much of it in the international space where, by her account, global clients continually ask when a successful United States product is coming to Europe or Asia. That reference point shapes how she thinks about expansion, leading with the products that travel simply and investing in infrastructure only once a market is ready. Her formative model is the research world's seller-doer, which she has repeatedly separated into distinct delivery and commercial functions so that swim lanes, renewal and new growth are clearly owned.

At MarketCast, Busignani describes joining a company deep in capability but needing direction, and building a largely new leadership team, with a new chief marketing officer, a new chief revenue officer and herself as chief executive, plus many new salespeople since January. She organises the business around its end markets, ads, brands and content, and runs it across a United States base and a European organisation. Her stated test of progress is cultural as much as commercial: operating reviews that stop being polite and start getting frothy, because that, she says, is when a team becomes real.

How Lana thinks3 convictions

  1. Meet clients where they are

Busignani argues that clients are no longer buying a single format of insight. Some want direct data integration, some want a dashboard with artificial intelligence built in, some want an agent, and some still want human consulting. Her job, as she frames it, is to stratify the client base and serve each at its own stage rather than force everyone through one door.

  2. Culture change is grassroots

Busignani rejects the idea that culture is changed by decree. She looks for leaders who bring practical, actionable anecdotes of change they have driven, and she uses the image of homeownership to argue that you address the roof first and make steady improvements rather than wait for the money to make everything perfect. Progress, in her telling, comes from an engaged team, not a mandate.

  3. Leave room to grow

Busignani returns often to the advice she gives younger talent, and especially women. She cites the research that women will discount themselves from a role if they do not meet most of the requirements, and she argues that being already the perfect fit leaves no room to develop. Her counsel is to be braver, bring one strong part and back yourself to learn the rest.
